The Department of Internal Medicine at Government Medical College, Gadchiroli, provides comprehensive care for a wide range of medical conditions while training undergraduate and postgraduate students in rural healthcare delivery. The department offers both outpatient and inpatient services, focusing on emergency care, chronic disease management, and socially responsive medicine.

Outpatient Department (OPD)
- Open daily from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM and 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM (Saturday: 9-1:30 PM; Sunday: Non-working day).
- Diagnosis, follow-up, and long-term care for conditions like diabetes, hypertension, tuberculosis, infections, and chronic diseases.

Emergency & Intensive Care (24/7 availability)
- Cardiac ICU (12 beds) located near the emergency/casualty area for serious heart-related emergencies.
- Emergency/Casualty Unit with 14 beds (9 ventilator-supported, 5 non-ventilator) for critical care and observation.

Inpatient Wards
- Ward No. 7 – Female Ward with 37 beds.
- Ward No. 8 – Male Ward with 35 beds.
- Ward No. 3 – Deaddiction Ward for patients undergoing substance use treatment.
- Isolation Ward for infectious diseases like HIV, tuberculosis, leprosy, and hepatitis.

Dialysis Unit
- 12 modern dialysis machines, including one dedicated to Hepatitis B positive patients for infection control and safety.

Field Practice Area
- Treatment of common diseases such as fever, TB, diabetes, and hypertension.
- Care for serious conditions involving the heart, kidneys, lungs, stomach, and brain.
- Chronic and elderly care with regular check-ups and follow-ups.
- Reducing emergency referrals by providing timely, quality care.
- Minimizing patient costs by limiting unnecessary tests, travel, and private care.
- Training UG/PG students to manage rural health challenges, improve communication, and build trust with patients.
- Community outreach, structured referral systems, and collaboration with SDHs, CHCs, PHCs, and AB-HWCs.
- Organizing health camps and awareness drives for early disease detection and prevention.
- Conducting local health data collection and student-led research to solve relevant healthcare issues.
