More About Department of Surgery
The Department of Surgery is fully equipped with modular operating rooms, dedicated laparoscopic units, and the latest technology for performing minimally invasive and general surgeries. The department conducts a wide range of specialized clinics, including gastro-intestinal surgery, breast clinic, obesity clinic, hernia clinic, and coloproctology clinic, offering expert care for various surgical conditions.
Collaborating with the Civil Surgeon and the team at the district hospital in Gadchiroli, the department also extends its services to patients from remote and under-served areas like Bhamragadh, Sironcha, and Korchi. These efforts are critical in addressing the healthcare needs of the tribal belt, where access to advanced medical care has historically been limited.
The department is actively involved in diagnostic and operative camps, as well as workshops, to educate both healthcare professionals and the community. It regularly conducts diagnostic workshops in oncology and general surgery management, promoting awareness and advancing knowledge in these vital areas.
The Department of Surgery is led by Dr. Prasad Bansod, an accomplished surgeon with a deep passion for oncology, particularly in the areas of breast cancer and minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Bansod’s expertise in robotic and laparoscopic surgeries has been pivotal in shaping the department's focus on cutting-edge surgical techniques. His leadership ensures the department’s commitment to high-quality clinical care, education, and research.
Under Dr. Bansod’s guidance, the department has embarked on various academic and research endeavors, contributing significantly to national and international medical literature. The faculty members, who work in close collaboration with the district hospital’s civil surgeon and team, are dedicated to providing excellence in both patient care and medical education.
The department is also working towards establishing a fellowship course in Emergency Medicine, which has been recognized by MUHS, further demonstrating its commitment to advanced medical training.
